Sometimes, we wish a day would last forever, and that we never forget those days. If only the bridal or baby showers that family and friends gave you , or your wedding day could go on forever. I keep these memories alive with my photo memory books, which are some of my most treasured possessions. I have one wedding book devoted to the bridal shower my sister put on for me with some of my friends. It was a fantastic night, and there are plenty of photographs to prove it. The pretty things they had arranged at the party and the exciting places we went to, that evening, were all caught on film. The camera doesn’t lie: we had a blast. We went to a spot where there were male dancers and snapped a few photos there. They knew how to work the crowd. I won’t soon forget my only night watching men dance like that. They may not have been in Playgirl, but they were definitely worth seeing.
I got a wedding memory book along with everything else I was buying when I was preparing for our wedding. We had no shortage of pictures to put in it. Actually, I had to get two of them to hold all of the pics. I ran out of space in the albums before the pictures were all filed. On certain pages in one of the picture album books were places for the guests we invited to write their names down. We had my first initial and my husband’s first initial flanking the initial of our last name on the cover of our personalized memory books. The ribbon made of satin and the special fabric made the album have a very classy touch. There are also refill pages available if needed, and we certainly need them.
I have picture books for every major moment that I’ve lived through. The number of keepsake memory books I have will only go up since I hang on to them all. Baby shower books, a wedding book, and the one from that bachelorette party are the ones that I have currently. I have a little girl that’s turning three next week and a little baby boy that is only one year old. My son has a blue book and my daughter has a pink one; we got the right colors because we found out what they’d be before they were born. I keep everything from their christenings to their first steps in these books. The baby memory books have pictures, handprints, and birth certificates stored there, too. I also put an invitation in the shower books and wedding photo book too. I could open up a photo gallery with all of the pictures I have stored away.
In spite of my husband’s frequent grumbling, I will keep those albums in my closet, because they are mementos of days that were special to me. With the new video camera I just bought, it’s going to be a little different, because now I have to clear room on some shelves in the den for the videos I’ll be making. So now, with the albums we have and the ones we will probably have in the future and all the videos I plan to record, I’m probably going to need a lot more room than originally planned. Hey, a girls got to have her memories to look back on. These years ahead are really important to a mom and I don’t want to miss out on one minute of it.
